30-10-2024 (SEOUL) A dramatic incident unfolded in the South Korean city of Yangsan when a massive wild boar terrorised local establishments and injured a commuter during an hour-long rampage through the city centre.
The Gyeongnam Fire Department reported that the incident began at approximately 4:45 PM on Wednesday when the boar, estimated to be 1.5 metres in length and weighing 100 kilogrammes, was first spotted near a restaurant in Dongmyeon district. The animal proceeded to charge down an eight-lane thoroughfare before entering Hopo Station on Busan’s Subway Line 2.
The situation escalated when the beast made its way to the station’s third-floor facilities, where it attacked a man in his thirties inside the public lavatory, inflicting multiple bite wounds to his right arm. The victim, identified only as Mr A, was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Medical authorities have confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening.

Continuing its destructive path, the boar ascended to the fourth floor, where it caused significant damage to the subway customer centre, shattering its glass door. The animal’s rampage was finally brought to an end at 5:43 PM when authorities, including a professional hunter, cornered the creature on the fifth-floor platform and dispatched it with a precise shot.

Local police have launched an investigation to determine how the wild boar managed to venture so far into the urban area, raising concerns about wildlife management in the region’s expanding urban zones.
