16-7-2024 (BANGKOK)Â Thai authorities are investigating the mysterious deaths of six individuals discovered in a high-end Bangkok hotel room. The incident, which has sent ripples through the capital’s hospitality sector, occurred on 16 July in the jurisdiction of Lumpini Police Station.
The deceased, Vietnamese nationals, have been identified as Ms Chereen Chong, 56, and Mr Hung Dang Van, 55, Ms Thi Nguyen Phuong Lan, 47, Mr Hong Pham Than, 49, Mr Dinh San Phu, 37, and Ms Thi Nguyen Phuong, 46.
Initial reports paint a grim picture of the scene. Four bodies were found around the dining table, while two more were discovered in the bedroom. Investigators noted the presence of partially consumed tea and coffee, raising suspicions of poisoning. Curiously, there were no signs of struggle, deepening the mystery surrounding the deaths.
In a significant development, police have taken the group’s tour guide, the sole survivor, into custody for questioning at Lumpini Police Station. This individual may hold crucial information about the events leading up to the tragedy.
The timing of the incident adds another layer of intrigue. The room was due for check-out on the day of discovery, with luggage already packed, suggesting the group was preparing to depart. Forensic teams are currently conducting a meticulous examination of the scene, while the bodies have been transferred to Chulalongkorn Hospital for detailed autopsies.
