Torsak Sukwimol received word of the grim discovery at approximately 5:30 pm when staff at the Grand Hyatt Erawan alerted Lumpini Police Station. Superintendent Pol. Col. Yingyot Suwanno swiftly led a team to the site, where they confirmed the presence of six deceased individuals.
The gravity of the situation became apparent as high-ranking officials, including Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang and his deputy, Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, rushed to the scene. Their presence signalled the launch of a top-priority investigation into what is being termed as a “mysterious” set of deaths.
Commissioner-General Sukwimol issued immediate orders for an urgent and thorough investigation, emphasising the need to determine the cause of death and apprehend any potential perpetrators with utmost haste. Forensic teams were dispatched to conduct a meticulous examination of the crime scene, with Sukwimol himself arriving later to oversee the initial stages of the investigation.
In an unprecedented move that highlights the seriousness of the incident, Prime Minister Settha Thavisin made an unscheduled visit to the hotel at 9:20 pm. The Prime Minister’s arrival, shrouded in secrecy, saw him briskly walking past a cordon of journalists, declining to comment and stating that he was not yet privy to the details of the case.
