The shocking revelation has added a layer of intrigue to an already perplexing case that has gripped both nations.
On July 16, 2024, the grim discovery of six lifeless bodies – three males and three females – inside a high-end hotel room within the jurisdiction of the Lumpini Police Station sent ripples of disbelief through the Thai capital. Initial investigations indicated that the victims, whose identities have been revealed as Ms. Cherin Chong, 56, an American national; Mr. Hung Dang Van, 55, an American national; Ms. Thi Nguyen Phuong Lan, 47, a Vietnamese national; Mr. Hong Pham Than, 49, a Vietnamese national; Mr. Dinh Xuan Phu, 37, a Vietnamese national; and Ms. Thi Nguyen Phuong, 46, a Vietnamese national, were potentially drugged, leading to their untimely demise.
In a startling development, the Facebook page “World Forum News” reported that Vietnamese media outlets have identified one of the deceased as a renowned makeup artist from the coastal city of Da Nang. The revelation has sent shockwaves through the artistic community, with many mourning the loss of a talented individual whose skilled hands had graced the faces of countless clients.
According to the reports, several members of the ill-fated group had traveled to Thailand on multiple occasions, with some having visited the country as many as 13 times, while others were first-time visitors. This discrepancy in travel patterns has further deepened the mystery surrounding their motives and circumstances.
Compounding the enigma, authorities have revealed that while the group had initially booked accommodations for seven individuals, only five completed the check-in process, yet six bodies were ultimately discovered. This inexplicable numerical discrepancy has fueled speculation of a potential seventh individual who may have either fallen victim to the same fate or played a sinister role in the unfolding tragedy.
Chilling details have emerged from the hotel records, which indicate that on July 13, one group checked in, followed by another on July 14. The victims had been accommodated across five rooms – four on the seventh floor and one on the fifth. Disturbingly, the rooms on the seventh floor were scheduled for check-out on July 15, the very day the bodies were discovered. However, in a puzzling turn of events, the guests had consolidated their belongings and relocated to the fifth-floor room, leading authorities to surmise that the victims were acquainted with one another.
Further adding to the mystery, traces of ordered food were found in the room, yet the meals remained untouched, suggesting that the victims may have succumbed to their fate before partaking in sustenance. Eerie remnants of beverages, such as tea, coffee, and water, were also discovered, hinting at the possibility of poisoning.
