20-7-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A man in Seremban, Negri Sembilan has been arrested for assaulting a Hong Kong man who brought his two Pomeranian dogs into a local coffee shop on Monday (July 17) afternoon. The incident, which was captured on CCTV footage that has since gone viral, showed the 61-year-old Hong Kong man and his Malaysian wife being attacked by the hot-headed patron.
According to reports, the patron became angry after seeing the couple bring their dogs into the kopitiam (Eatery) and initially wanted to take photos of them and post them on social media. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with the patron picking up a plastic chair and beating the Hong Kong man with it. The man fell to the ground and was kicked several times before being dragged to a corner by the angry patron.
Several other customers attempted to break up the fight, including the Hong Kong man’s wife who restrained the patron with one arm while carrying one of the dogs with the other. The incident left the Hong Kong man with injuries to his hands and feet, as well as bruises on his left hand, arm, and toes.
Following a police report, the 49-year-old Malaysian man was arrested on Tuesday (July 19) and is currently being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
The incident has sparked a mixed response from netizens, with some praising the patron for teaching the Hong Kong man a lesson, while others believe that he could have handled the situation in a more civil manner by politely asking the couple not to bring their pets into the kopitiam.
