4-7-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A family of six visited an upscale restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, but two of the men were denied entry due to their attire not meeting the restaurant’s dress code. They were asked to wear sarong instead.
Mr. Ye, from Selangor, pointed out that his friend had spent over RM1000 (S$290) to purchase vouchers for the upscale restaurant online. Last Friday (30th), the family of six arrived at the restaurant for their meal, but his friend and father were asked to wear sarong due to their shorts, leaving them extremely unhappy.
He stated that his friend found wearing lounge pants to be unflattering and was frustrated that they had spent thousands of ringgit only to end up feeling disappointed.
Speaking to China Press, Mr. Ye mentioned that his friend and father were wearing knee-length shorts on that day, while the attire of the two ladies and two children accompanying them posed no issues.
He further mentioned that his friend had considered requesting a refund due to the incident, but since refunds were not allowed, they had no choice but to wear the sarong provided by the restaurant and proceed with their meal.
According to the official website of the upscale restaurant in question, guests are expected to adhere to a smart casual or easy-glam dress code, and shorts and slippers are not permitted.
The restaurant states that in order to show respect for the beautiful dining environment, guests are required to dress appropriately, and if they do not meet the dress code standards, the management reserves the right to deny entry.
