On July 16, 2024, the grim discovery of six lifeless bodies in the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, within the jurisdiction of the Lumpini Police Station sent shockwaves through the city. Initial findings pointed to a sinister possibility – the victims may have been drugged, their drinks laced with nefarious substances leading to their untimely demise. Compounding the perplexity of the case, records indicated that while seven individuals had booked accommodations, only six had physically arrived at the premises, with merely five completing the check-in process.

In a startling development, recently released CCTV footage from the hotel’s entrance has unveiled a harrowing narrative. The chilling visuals captured the six deceased individuals, dragging their luggage through the hotel’s doors, a grim foreshadowing of the tragedy that would soon unfold. Their arrival at different times – with the first group checking in on July 13 and the second on July 14 – has added an unsettling layer of complexity to the investigation.
According to the footage, on July 15, the ill-fated group appeared to be making their way back to their respective rooms, unaware of the impending peril that awaited them. It is a heart-wrenching thought that as they traversed the hotel’s corridors.
Earlier, Pol. Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, had shed light on the perplexing discrepancy between the number of individuals booked and those who ultimately checked in.
