22-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) In an unexpected turn of events, a teacher who has gained popularity as an influencer, known as @qiwiie on social media, and renowned for her engaging school-hour videos, has found herself embroiled in controversy.
On June 21, the educator publicly apologized for crossing a line in her content creation process by featuring a student’s bag in one of her videos without authorization. “I would like to apologize to the parents and individuals who were offended by a recent video I posted. I am truly sorry,” expressed the teacher, who has risen to fame through her viral content.
The backlash ensued after a contentious video surfaced, showing Shi Qi, aka @qiwiie, going through a student’s bag, sparking widespread criticism for featuring students without their consent. In an attempt to address the growing backlash, she extended her apology on social media and clarified the nature of the disputed video.
I am the mother of the girl in your screenshot. I do not consent to you spreading her photo on your twitter. I gave consent to Ms Shi Qi to make a video with her but not for you to spread this picture. I will give you 12 hours to take it down before I take it to court.

She stated, “There were no students in this video. Unlike my recent videos where parental consent was sought and obtained, I did not seek consent before opening the bags as they were used as props. This was an oversight and my mistake, which I deeply regret.”
“The video was sponsored content. It was filmed during break time, and I placed the gummies into the bags before the shoot. I looked through the students’ bags, took out a gummy, and ate it.” She released a comprehensive five-page apology on her TikTok, acknowledging her lapse in judgment for using a student’s bag as a prop without proper permission.
Highlighting the deviation from her usual content, which is filmed with parental approval, Shi Qi recognized her error and expressed sincere remorse for her oversight.
“I am new to content creation, and I am still learning. However, that is not an excuse. I am genuinely grateful to everyone who has brought this issue to my attention, and I will take this as a lesson to be more mindful and conscientious in the future.”
Video removed after 20 minutes Unfortunately, her video caught the attention of vigilant netizens who flagged the inappropriate content.
“I acknowledged my mistake and promptly removed the video after 20 minutes. It saddens me that some individuals had downloaded the video and shared it online before I could take it down,” she lamented.
With a deep commitment to her school and students, the teacher expressed her guilt over the unfavorable consequences of this incident. She conveyed a profound sense of remorse for unintentionally drawing negative attention to her school and students through her actions.
Emphasizing her role as a teacher, she stressed the high value she places on the safety and well-being of her students, something she takes very seriously.
All TikTok videos featuring children removed, replaced with apology post As a precautionary measure, she has promptly deleted all videos featuring children from her social media accounts.
