21-1-2025 (SINGAPORE) A murder suspect was escorted to the scene of an alleged homicide in Ang Mo Kio housing estate today, as authorities continued their investigation into the death of a woman in her late sixties.
The accused, Ng Chen Heng, 66, who faces capital murder charges in connection with the death of Lim Suan Lian, 67, was brought to Block 125 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 under heavy police guard. The incident marks a crucial development in the case that has shocked the typically peaceful neighbourhood.
Arriving shortly after 9am in a white police van, Ng was seen wearing a red polo shirt and dark shorts, with his limbs secured in black restraints. A team of five plainclothes officers accompanied him to a fourth-floor flat where the alleged murder took place between 27 and 29 November.
Police established a significant security presence at the location, cordoning off an area encompassing eight residential units. Uniformed officers maintained vigilant positions at both ends of the restricted zone throughout the proceedings.
The suspect spent more than two hours inside the flat with investigating officers before being transported from the scene. Local residents, speaking to reporters, revealed a history of domestic discord, claiming that Ng had frequently engaged in heated arguments with the deceased. Several neighbours recounted instances where he had reportedly been denied entry to the residence.
Ng was formally charged with murder on 30 November. Under Singapore’s Criminal Law, if convicted, he faces the death penalty.
