16-7-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) The investigation into the tragic death of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah has entered a crucial phase, with authorities awaiting laboratory results to determine the exact cause of her demise. Selangor’s top police official, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, provided an update on the case in a statement released on Tuesday, 16 July.
According to the police chief, a thorough post-mortem examination was conducted at Sungai Buloh Hospital, commencing at 3 pm and concluding at 5:30 pm on 16 July. The procedure, lasting two and a half hours, was carried out by forensic pathologists. However, the definitive findings are contingent upon pending laboratory investigations.
In his statement, Datuk Hussein emphasised the ongoing nature of the police inquiry and made a public appeal for witnesses to step forward. “We urge any individuals with pertinent information to approach their nearest police station to assist with our investigations,” he said.
The police chief also took the opportunity to caution the public against speculation and the dissemination of potentially sensitive material. “We remind citizens to refrain from circulating photos or information that could impede our ongoing investigation,” he stressed, highlighting the importance of maintaining the integrity of the case.
This development follows the arrest of a 26-year-old civil servant on Monday, 15 July, in connection with the discovery of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah’s body. The suspect, identified as a police officer stationed in Perak, has been remanded for seven days to aid in the investigation. The case is being treated as a potential homicide, with investigations proceeding under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder.
