5-12-2023 (SINGAPORE) McDonald’s, a popular fast-food chain in Singapore, is known for its quick and convenient meals. Customers expect their food to be properly cooked and safe to consume. However, a recent incident at a McDonald’s outlet near Punggol Plaza left a customer appalled when they received an uncooked burger patty.
The customer, understandably disgusted by the sight, immediately raised concerns about the potential for food poisoning. In response to the complaint, the outlet’s manager promptly offered a full refund and assured the customer that any medical expenses resulting from the incident would be covered.

McDonald’s has issued an apology for the incident, acknowledging the lapse in quality control. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has initiated an investigation into the matter to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
The incident came to light when a Facebook user shared their unpleasant experience at the Punggol Plaza outlet. According to the customer’s account, they discovered something “cold and mushy” after taking a bite of the burger they had purchased. Upon inspecting the burger, they were shocked to find the beef patty visibly pink and uncooked. Unlike steak, ground beef that is not properly cooked can harbor harmful bacteria, as stated by the US Department of Agriculture.
Naturally concerned about the risk of food poisoning, the customer immediately lodged a complaint with the outlet’s manager. The manager responded by offering a full refund and taking responsibility for any potential medical expenses incurred by the customer. Additionally, a replacement burger was offered, although the customer declined due to their revulsion and stated they would not revisit the outlet.
In order to raise awareness and advocate for stricter standards in food preparation, the customer reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA). While the customer reported feeling fine at the time, they expressed concern that symptoms of food poisoning could manifest within a day or two, leaving them anxiously awaiting any potential health issues. They also expressed worry about others who might have consumed uncooked patties from the same batch.
