20-9-2023 (HANOI) A shocking incident unfolded as a video clip from a security camera showed a woman, suspected to be a former domestic helper, kidnapping a 21-month-old girl and driving off on a motorcycle. The incident has prompted a joint effort by Hanoi City Police and Hung Yen Province Police to locate the woman.
The child had previously been under the care of the woman, who had worked as a helper for the family. Even after her employment ended, the family continued to engage her services to transport the child. Tragically, during one such trip, the woman kidnapped the toddler and demanded a ransom of 1.5 billion VND (approximately 65,000 USD).
The distressing incident came to light when social media posts sought help in locating the child, believed to have been kidnapped. A security camera captured the woman, dressed in black trousers and a red sun-protective shirt, wearing a mask and helmet. She was seen taking the child and driving away on a motorcycle at approximately 3:53 PM on September 19.
It was later revealed that the woman had once worked as a helper for the family and had continued to be hired to transport the child even after her employment ended. During one such trip, she kidnapped the toddler and demanded a ransom.
The authorities were alerted to the situation on September 19, with the Hung Yen Province Police seeking assistance from the Gia Lam District Police. The victim, a 21-month-old girl, was found dead in Dong Que Hamlet, Me So Commune, Van Giang District, Hung Yen Province, early the following day.
