27-10-2023 (SINGAPORE) Renowned South Korean entertainment agency, YG Entertainment, recognized for launching the successful careers of iconic K-pop groups like BIGBANG and Blackpink, is expanding its search for new talent by coming to Singapore. The agency’s global auditions, a process where talent scouts scout the world for potential trainees to undergo rigorous training with the aim of becoming actors or K-pop idols, are set to take place in the vibrant city-state.
The Singapore auditions are scheduled from November 14 to November 16 and will be held at Orchard Central Mall. Aspiring talents who wish to participate in this opportunity need to meet certain age criteria, specifically, being born between 2004 and 2012. For individuals under the age of 14, parental consent will be essential to partake in the auditions. To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must pre-apply by November 5.
Successful pre-applicants will receive a confirmation email from YG Entertainment, providing them with the essential details, including their audition time slot. The auditions are open to candidates across four distinct categories: Vocal, rap, dance, or appearance, offering a broad spectrum of talent to be discovered.
For those in Vietnam, the auditions will also extend to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in December 2023, broadening the search for promising talents in the region.
The YG Entertainment audition program has a history of uncovering exceptional talent. It has been the starting point for notable figures in the K-pop industry, including members of Blackpink like Rose and Lisa. Notably, Rose stood out as the top talent at the Sydney audition in 2012, while Lisa was the sole qualifier from the Thailand audition in 2010. She also holds the distinction of being the only foreigner among YG’s trainees to have successfully made it in the highly competitive industry.
However, the path from audition to stardom is known for its rigorous challenges and intense training. As previously reported, most aspiring performers begin auditioning as early as 10 years old, enduring multiple rounds of auditions before securing a place within the agency.
