13-7-2024 (SINGAPORE) Tensions boiled over at a local durian stall in Jurong on July 11th, resulting in a violent altercation that led to the arrest of three men. The incident, which unfolded in front of horrified onlookers, has left the community shaken and authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the heated brawl.
Footage of the scuffle, shared on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group, captured the intense confrontation between the three individuals. The video depicted a topless man and a man in a white shirt engaged in a heated argument, with tempers flaring in front of the durian stall located at Block 964 Jurong West Street 91.
Within seconds, the situation escalated as a third man, clad in an orange shirt, shoved the shirtless individual, seemingly fueling the already tense atmosphere. Enraged, the topless man retaliated by throwing punches at the man in white, igniting a full-blown brawl that drew the attention of bystanders.
In a shocking turn of events, the shirtless man stormed off momentarily, only to return brandishing a long blade, further heightening the danger and chaos on the scene. The intense confrontation eventually subsided, leaving onlookers shaken and concerned for their safety.
According to reports from Shin Min Daily News, the incident involved a father-son duo who operated the durian stall and the owner of a neighboring fruit and vegetable stall. The altercation stemmed from a dispute over a queue of customers at the durian stall, which allegedly obstructed the suppliers of the adjacent stall.
In an attempt to resolve the situation, the owner of the fruit and vegetable stall confronted the father-son pair, leading to the explosive confrontation captured on video. An employee from the durian stall revealed that the man in white was the owner, while the individual in orange was his father, and that this was not the first time they had clashed with the neighboring vendor.
Responding swiftly to the incident, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) received a call for assistance at around 7:45 pm on July 11th. Upon arrival, officers arrested three men, aged 30, 52, and 58, for their involvement in the affray. The two older men were subsequently conveyed to the hospital for treatment.
As investigations into the matter continue, the authorities are working to establish the full sequence of events and the motivations behind the violent altercation.
