28-6-2023 (HANOI) Vietnam has set an ambitious goal to transform Ho Chi Minh City into a prominent international center for education and training, with the aim of attracting students from across Southeast Asia and around the world. This strategic move was reported by local media on Wednesday, highlighting the city’s aspirations to become a thriving hub for educational excellence.
Ho Chi Minh City, known as Vietnam’s economic powerhouse in the southern region, has been instructed to prioritize the development of high-quality human resources that meet international standards, while also embracing digital transformation, innovation, and global integration, according to Vietnam News Agency.
As part of this initiative, the city plans to revamp and upgrade educational facilities at all levels, including the replacement of inadequate classrooms and the enhancement of educational equipment. Additionally, there will be a concerted effort to relocate educational institutions from the inner districts to more suitable locations.
One of the key objectives outlined in the plan is the establishment of smart schools throughout the city. The aim is for 100 percent of local schools to adopt the smart school model, leveraging technology to create a more efficient and interactive learning environment. Furthermore, class sizes will be limited to a maximum of 35 students in order to facilitate better student-teacher engagement and personalized education.
Ho Chi Minh City boasts a prominent position in higher education in Vietnam, with over 100 universities and colleges, as well as approximately 410 vocational schools. This strong foundation provides a solid platform for the city’s ambitions to become an attractive destination for students seeking quality education and training.
