24-7-2023 (SAN FRANCISCO) Twitter, the renowned social media and networking service, surprised the world late Sunday when it unveiled its new official logo, replacing the iconic blue bird with a simple “X.” This move was accompanied by a similar change in the profile picture of its largest shareholder, Elon Musk.
Elon Musk, known for his ventures in the tech and space industries, made the announcement on Twitter, stating that the company would now be known as “X, the everything app.” He also mentioned that the domain x.com would now redirect to twitter.com, signifying the shift in branding. Musk expressed his plans to bid farewell to the traditional Twitter brand and gradually phase out the bird-related elements associated with the platform.
Earlier this year, in April, Twitter underwent a legal name change from Twitter Inc. to X Corp, foreshadowing the transformation that was to come.
The vision for X, as described by the company’s CEO Linda Yaccarino in a tweet, is centered around limitless interactivity and focuses on various multimedia aspects such as audio, video, messaging, payment/banking features. Additionally, X aims to create a global marketplace that encompasses a diverse range of ideas, goods, services, and opportunities.
