21-6-2023 (TAIPEI) Taiwanese singer Aaron Yan, has publicly acknowledged being in a relationship with a male TikToker who was only 16 years old at the time. The revelation includes allegations that the two individuals filmed sex tapes together, which were later leaked.
The TikToker, previously known as Ming Yang but now going by the name Raku, gained popularity when he was 16. However, in 2018, a sex video featuring Raku and his ex-boyfriend was leaked, causing significant emotional distress. This incident led Raku to drop out of high school in his third year and revert to his real name, Yao-le, while adopting the English handle Raku, as reported by ETtoday.
Amid the recent “Me Too” movement in Taiwan, Raku took to Instagram on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. to publicly name Aaron Yan as the person involved in the leaked tapes. Raku expressed ongoing difficulties in coping with the traumatic experience even after five years, stating, “I really, really can’t take it anymore.”
Raku further alleged that he later discovered Yan was dating multiple other men simultaneously, and he even received late-night phone calls from one of Yan’s other partners. According to Raku, as these incidents persisted for six months, he decided to end his relationship with Yan.
In response to Raku’s Instagram post, Yan addressed the situation on his Facebook page at 10:45 p.m. the same day. Yan expressed gratitude to Raku for speaking out and providing him with an opportunity to confront the personal turmoil he had long feared. Yan admitted that he was not proud of his “past self” and acknowledged his personal issues, stating that he had behaved in a distorted manner within his relationships.
Yan confirmed the relationship with Raku in his post, noting that he had assisted Raku in finding a home and paying rent. He admitted that during their relationship, there were disagreements and admitted his failure in effective communication, neglecting certain aspects, and lacking the ability and wisdom to handle the breakup.
Regarding the 2018 leak of the sex tapes, Yan emphasized that he did not willingly release the footage. He explained that after conducting an investigation, he concluded that the footage was most likely accessed when he had his phone repaired on a particular day.
Yan claimed that he did his best to involve an attorney to remove the video and mentioned that he and Raku remained in contact until last year, as recently as September, when Raku reportedly asked Yan for assistance in promoting a voting event. Yan expressed his willingness to face the mistakes of his past, acknowledging his past behavior and expressing remorse for setting a negative example.
