5-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Three suspected burglars fled from the police during a check and one of them fell off a hill and died from severe head injuries in Penang, Malaysia. The incident took place in the Jalan Jelutong area, where there have been frequent burglary cases.
The Penang Police Chief, Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan, released a statement saying that the police launched an operation called “Ops Rantau Dawai” in the mountainous area of Jelutong Gardens in response to the recent spike in burglary cases. During the operation, police officers found three men who appeared to be suspicious burglars. However, when the officers approached them, the suspects started running away, and eventually, they lost track of them.
The police discovered a body at the bottom of the hill at around 4 a.m. The backpack on the deceased contained screwdrivers, wire cutters, gloves, and a cleaver, which are believed to be the tools used by the suspects during the burglary. The police have not yet identified the deceased as he had no identification documents on him. The body has been sent to the mortuary for further investigation.
The police have taken fingerprints from the deceased and are currently investigating the case as a sudden death.
