5-6-2023 (SEOUL) In a horrifying incident that has left the nation stunned, a woman in South Korea fell victim to a senseless act of violence, allegedly perpetrated by a complete stranger. The chilling details reveal that the suspect, driven by what she claimed to be “curiosity,” allegedly murdered the victim and dismembered her body.
The authorities have identified the alleged culprit as 23-year-old Jung Yoo-jung, a resident of Busan, a city in the southern region of South Korea. Reports suggest that Jung had been leading a solitary life since graduating from high school, although she was living with relatives at the time of the shocking incident. Furthermore, she had been diligently studying for a civil servant exam, according to her grandfather.
According to police reports, Jung made contact with the victim through a mobile app that connects students with tuition teachers. Posing as the parent of a high school student in need of tutoring, she arranged a tuition session at the victim’s residence in the Geumjeong District of Busan on May 26. Disguised as a high school student, Jung gained access to the victim’s home.
Tragically, after committing the murder, Jung proceeded to dismember the victim’s body and stuffed some of the remains into a suitcase. Disturbing CCTV footage captured Jung nonchalantly rolling the bloodstained suitcase through the streets. The remainder of the victim’s remains were left in her own home, where they were later discovered by the police.

Rather than disposing of the incriminating evidence immediately, Jung made the disturbing decision to take a taxi with the blood-soaked suitcase. The taxi driver, witnessing Jung disappear into the bushes with the suspicious luggage, promptly alerted the police. Upon investigation, the police discovered the discarded body parts in the vicinity.
Jung’s subsequent arrest on May 27 sent shockwaves throughout the country. Disturbing revelations emerged during questioning, indicating that Jung had been planning the murder for as long as three months. Disturbingly, she had been extensively researching murder-related content online, even exploring topics such as “murder without a corpse.” Jung confessed to committing the act out of sheer curiosity, seemingly influenced by books and television shows on the subject. The police recovered large plastic bags and bleach, supporting her claims of premeditation.
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Jung now appears to be expressing remorse. During a media interview on June 2, she expressed sorrow for the victim’s family and stated that she was “out of her mind” when she committed the alleged murder. Her grandfather, addressing the media on June 1, offered his deepest apologies to the victim’s family, expressing regret for not raising his granddaughter properly.
This shocking and tragic incident has sent shockwaves throughout South Korea, leaving a grieving family and a nation in disbelief. As the investigation continues, our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones. May justice be served, providing solace to those affected by this senseless act of violence.
