14-6-2023 (TAIPEI) Yuan Ramen, a renowned ramen restaurant, recently unveiled its latest culinary creation, the “Frog Frog Frog Ramen” in Yunlin. Pre-orders for this extraordinary dish began on Jun. 12, leaving food enthusiasts intrigued and curious to experience this unconventional offering.
You might have already heard of the isopod ramen served by a restaurant in Taipei. Building on the trend of unusual ramen offerings, Yuan Ramen’s “Whole Frog Ramen” adds to the growing list of adventurous and boundary-pushing gastronomic experiences.
The “Frog Frog Frog Ramen” is a distinctive combination of fish-based broth, a whole frog weighing approximately 200g, buckwheat noodles, and customary ramen condiments. The restaurant enthusiastically declared, “The frog is served intact, with its skin and organs unaltered. Diners are welcome to relish the unique experience of consuming it in its entirety.”
Accompanying promotional images depict the black frog immersed in the flavorful ramen broth, accompanied by clams and garnished with a sprinkling of fresh spring onions.
Priced at NT$250 (S$10.92) per bowl, patrons can indulge in this culinary adventure. However, for those solely interested in capturing the remarkable visual spectacle, the restaurant offers a separate option for photography at NT$100 (S$4.37).
The Frog Frog Frog Ramen announcement on Facebook has generated significant attention, amassing over 900 likes and 1,500 comments at the time of writing. The majority of reactions expressed intrigue and eagerness to try this innovative dish, while some inquired about the extension of pre-order availability.
Despite the largely positive response, one individual raised concerns about the edibility of the frog’s internal organs, citing potential bacterial contamination, such as salmonella.
