22-6-2023 (NORTH ATLANTIC) With the remaining oxygen supply running low, rescue efforts have been ramped up in the search for the missing Titan submersible. As the deadline for oxygen depletion draws near, intensified operations are underway to locate the submerged vessel.
The search took a hopeful turn when a Canadian aircraft, scouring the Atlantic Ocean, picked up intermittent “banging” sounds believed to originate from the vicinity of the sub’s last known position. However, the US Coast Guard has stated that they are uncertain about the source of the noises.
The crew involved in the search reported hearing banging sounds at 30-minute intervals on Tuesday, followed by a similar occurrence four hours later on Wednesday.
To bolster the search mission, additional support has arrived on the scene this morning. The US Coast Guard has confirmed that the remaining oxygen supply is anticipated to be depleted by 1 pm UK time on Thursday, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
On board the Titan submersible are notable individuals, including OceanGate Expeditions CEO and founder Stockton Rush, British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, accompanied by his 19-year-old son Suleman Dawood.
The ill-fated watercraft embarked on its journey on Sunday morning, descending from its support vessel to reach the depths of the Titanic wreckage, resting at approximately 12,500 feet. Approximately an hour and 45 minutes after submerging, the Titan lost contact with its surface ship, the Polar Prince.
