18-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver a crucial announcement concerning the country’s current financial state and the declining value of the ringgit, according to Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan .
Ahmad stated that Anwar, who also holds the position of Finance Minister, will be attending an event at the Securities Commission on Monday (June 19) at noon, where he will deliver a speech.
When questioned about the ringgit’s depreciation against the US dollar and whether the government plans to implement any measures to tackle the issue, Ahmad responded by saying, “The PM will be participating in the program following the inauguration of the new Dewan Negara president. I defer to him to address matters pertaining to policies,” he stated after visiting Bank Simpanan Nasional at Wisma BSN on Sunday (June 18).
Ahmad further disclosed that the government is currently in the process of updating information related to the Rahmah Cash Aid for B40 recipients before the funds are disbursed ahead of the Hari Raya Haji celebrations.
He mentioned that a total of RM2.14 billion will be distributed to approximately 8.4 million recipients.
