3-12-2025 (BANGKOK) Thailand recorded 29.6 million foreign tourists from January to November 2025, down 7.25% year-on-year, as severe flooding in the south crippled arrivals, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports announced Tuesday. Permanent Secretary Natthriya Thaweevong said the latest weekly tally, ending November 30, fell 8.12% to 635,217 visitors, with Malaysia—the country’s top source market—plunging 42.36% to just 44,067 after floods submerged Hat Yai and cut road and rail links across ten southern provinces.
Overall short-haul traffic dropped more than 11%, dragging cumulative revenue to 1.37 trillion baht, a 4.72% decline. Long-haul markets showed mixed results: China rose 5.26% to 79,751 weekly visitors, while South Korea and Russia slipped 3.85% and 1.64% respectively. India gained 2.66%.
Despite the weekly collapse, Malaysia still leads the 11-month total, narrowly ahead of China. Authorities will track recovery pace once floodwaters recede and transport resumes, with year-end figures critical to meeting the ministry’s 36-million-visitor target for 2025.
