2-6-2023 (SINGAPORE) Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo made a brief but memorable appearance at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on Friday afternoon, much to the delight of his devoted fans. Despite being present for only 15 to 20 minutes, Ronaldo’s supporters were treated to an up-close encounter with their beloved star.
As Ronaldo arrived at the Botanic Gardens, enthusiastic fans surrounded his buggy, eagerly running alongside him to catch a glimpse of the football superstar. Some lucky individuals even had the opportunity to secure his autograph on their jerseys, creating lasting mementos of the special encounter.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s visit to Singapore serves a philanthropic purpose, as he is lending his support to a series of youth scholarships established by his long-time friend and philanthropist, Peter Lim. Among these scholarships is the NParks-Peter Lim Scholarship, which aims to provide opportunities for underprivileged youths to pursue their passions and develop their skills in various sectors such as landscaping, horticulture, ecology, veterinary, and animal science.
During his time at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Ronaldo joined the scholarship recipients, who are students from the Institute of Technical Education, for a group photo, creating a memorable moment for both the aspiring youths and their idol.
Continuing his philanthropic efforts, Ronaldo is scheduled to meet approximately 1,000 young individuals on Saturday in support of the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF)-Peter Lim Scholarship.
This visit marks Ronaldo’s fourth trip to Singapore within the past decade and holds particular significance as it is his first visit since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The football star’s presence has undoubtedly brought joy and excitement to his Singaporean fans, who eagerly await more opportunities to engage with their football icon.
