22-5-2024 (MANILA) Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban has denied ownership of a luxury McLaren 620R that recently won a car show contest in the nearby town of Concepcion. Addressing the controversy, Guo clarified that she had merely borrowed the high-end vehicle from a friend to represent Bamban in the event.
Despite this, Guo did confirm owning a helicopter, which she sold earlier this year to a British company. She explained that she had purchased the helicopter in 2019 with the intention of operating it as a motor taxi, considering the business’s potential profitability at that time. However, unforeseen circumstances forced her to sell the helicopter as the venture did not succeed as planned.
In a separate development, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has recommended a preventive suspension for Guo over alleged involvement in “serious illegal acts” related to Philippine offshore gaming operations. This recommendation has been forwarded to the Office of the Ombudsman for further action.
