7-2-2025 (SINGAPORE) British rock titans Coldplay have released their latest music video for “Man in the Moon”, filmed entirely against Singapore’s iconic backdrop during their January 2024 concert residency.
The captivating four-minute visual narrative, which has rapidly climbed to the eighth spot on YouTube’s music trending chart, opens with an intimate glimpse of everyday Singaporean life. A young woman’s journey begins at a Housing Development Board flat, winding through the historic People’s Park Complex, setting the stage for a uniquely local adventure.
Front man Chris Martin and bandmates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion deliver a mesmerising performance from a floating platform set against Singapore’s glittering skyline. The video weaves together a diverse tapestry of local youth, including Genshin Impact cosplayers and homegrown talent such as singer-songwriter Shazza, capturing the city-state’s multicultural essence.
From the bustling coffee shops of Geylang to the cultural corridors of Kampong Glam, the video presents an authentic portrait of Singapore’s daily life alongside its tourist magnets. The iconic Gardens by the Bay and the historic Fort Canning Park feature prominently, while the spectacular Jewel Rain Vortex at Changi Airport and the S.E.A. Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa add modern architectural splendour to the mix.
“Man in the Moon”, a track from Coldplay’s tenth studio album “Moon Music” released in October 2024, represents a collaborative effort between Warner Music Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The filming took place during the band’s six-show engagement in Singapore last January.
“Singapore’s vibrant youth culture and stunning landscapes provided the perfect canvas for our vision,” the band shared in a statement. “Creating a dance party on the water, complete with Singapore’s famous otters, was an unforgettable experience. We deliberately sought locations we’d never filmed before, aiming to showcase the genuine diversity of this remarkable city.”
This partnership follows STB’s recent collaboration with K-pop sensation Seventeen, who showcased Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay during their National Stadium performances in January 2025, furthering Singapore’s position as a premier destination for international entertainment collaborations.
