4-5-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A flight instructor and a trainee suffered injuries following the crash of a light aircraft near Sungkai on Saturday.
According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, the incident involved a Cessna 172 and occurred in the vicinity of the MAIP plantation.
The department received a distress call at 9:46 am, and rescue teams reached the crash site by 11:10 am. The flight instructor sustained an injury to his left thigh, while the trainee suffered facial injuries.
“The victims are currently being transported via a four-wheel-drive vehicle to the nearest hospital,” the spokesperson stated.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri confirmed the crash, clarifying that it involved a training aircraft with two passengers, a man, and a woman. Fortunately, both occupants survived the incident.
Both injured individuals were promptly conveyed to Slim River Hospital for medical attention, he further confirmed.
