29-11-2023 (BEIJING) In a diplomatic meeting held in New York on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s commitment to enhancing its comprehensive strategic partnership with Malaysia to new heights. Wang conveyed China’s readiness to collaborate closely with Malaysia in various domains with the aim of jointly constructing a China-Malaysia community of shared future.
The Chinese Foreign Minister, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, held discussions with his Malaysian counterpart, Zambry Abdul Kadir. Wang highlighted that 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership.
Wang referenced the successful visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to China earlier this year. During the visit, Anwar and Chinese President Xi Jinping reached a pivotal consensus on building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, injecting significant momentum into bilateral relations.
Zambry Abdul Kadir affirmed that China is a valued and trusted friend of Malaysia. Malaysia places great importance on its relations with China and is keen on celebrating the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations in the next year.
Both sides expressed optimism about maintaining the momentum of high-level visits and working towards the continued development of bilateral relations. Zambry highlighted the forthcoming mutual visa-free entry arrangement between China and Malaysia, which is expected to facilitate smoother personnel exchanges and encourage more Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia.
The diplomatic discussions also touched upon the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with both parties expressing their positions on preventing the resurgence of war and addressing humanitarian concerns. Wang emphasized the importance of a unified international voice to achieve a consensus on cease-fire and cessation of hostilities at a higher level. The meeting, initiated by China, aims to convey a clear message against the return of war and to facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza.
China and Malaysia concurred on the need for a two-state solution to ensure a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue. Wang assured that China is prepared to collaborate with all parties to actively contribute to achieving this goal.
Zambry Abdul Kadir commended China’s influential and fair stance on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He conveyed Malaysia’s full agreement with China’s position, emphasizing the necessity of preventing the return of war, expediting humanitarian assistance, and exploring the path to a lasting settlement through the two-state solution.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister expressed his readiness to coordinate closely with China to make the upcoming Security Council high-level meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli issue a success. The meeting in New York underlines the collaborative efforts of China and Malaysia on both bilateral and international fronts.
