20-7-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. has developed the world’s first hydrogen-powered smart tram, which has left its production site in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, and is now en route to Malaysia. The tram, which is an innovative high-tech device, will be used for urban transport services in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak in Malaysia.
The hydrogen-powered smart tram is a breakthrough in sustainable transport technology. It boasts a hydrogen energy power system that offers longer driving range and shorter refueling time, while also being energy-saving and environmentally friendly. The device has been upgraded through intelligent design, which suits the needs of Malaysia in achieving a zero-emission and intelligent public transport system.
The tram will be shipped from the port of Shanghai to Malaysia, where it will undergo a three-month testing period in Kuching. The successful deployment of the smart tram in Malaysia will provide a reliable, efficient, and modern mode of travel for locals, and effectively alleviate traffic congestion in the city. It will also help promote China’s smart manufacturing to countries along the Belt and Road.
