1-12-2023 (SEOUL) A disturbing incident unfolded in South Korea’s capital as a teenager attacked a motorcycle-riding delivery man using a golf club, resulting in injuries to the victim’s leg and significant damage to his vehicle. The shocking assault, captured by the delivery man’s helmet camera, surfaced on YouTube channel BobaedreamTV on November 24.
The video depicted the teen wielding a golf club and striking the unsuspecting delivery man as he passed through the gate of an apartment complex in the affluent Gangnam district.
In the aftermath of the attack, the injured victim halted his motorcycle and attempted to confront the teen, who callously ignored him. The assailant then nonchalantly picked up the weapon from the road before walking away.
According to reports from BobaedreamTV, the victim sustained a leg injury during the assault. Furthermore, his motorcycle incurred damages estimated at 2.6 million won (S$2,700), necessitating repairs.
The victim recounted that the teen’s father initially offered a brief apology over the phone but subsequently became unresponsive. When the delivery man requested 30 million won in compensation, the assailant’s father proposed only paying half of the requested amount.
The alleged assailant, identified as a high school student, was apprehended on November 11 and is currently facing charges of aggravated assault, as reported by The Korea Herald. During the investigation, the teen admitted to carrying out the unprovoked attack without a specific reason. Additionally, it was revealed that he had a prior conviction for assault.
