16-11-2023 (BANGKOK) Thai authorities are investigating the disturbing death of a 48-year-old Taiwanese man, discovered bound and gagged in a dishevelled hotel room in Bang Na district. The victim was found lifeless on the sixth floor of the Niran Grand Hotel on Udomsuk Soi 17 off Sukhumvit 103 (Udomsuk) Road at approximately 10:30 am on Thursday.
Police uncovered the victim lying face-down next to a bed, with his hands and legs bound using belts and ropes, positioned behind his back. His head was tightly wrapped in transparent plastic sheeting, with plastic tape around the nose and neck area, indicating signs of torture. The room showed signs of a struggle, with belongings scattered, and traces of blood on one of the two safes.
Hotel staff reported that the man had checked in alone at 12:43 pm on Tuesday. Forensic analysis suggests that the victim died at least eight hours before the discovery. Hotel maids recalled seeing him using his laptop around noon on Wednesday.
The victim had arrived in the country at about 1 am on Tuesday and checked into the hotel later that day. On Tuesday night, two Thai women met with him at the hotel. Investigators have also learned of potential involvement with three men, one of whom is described as Asian. The victim reportedly had a criminal history, having served time in Taiwan for fraud and human trafficking.
The investigation into this gruesome incident is ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the Taiwanese man in Bangkok.
