12-3-2025 (BANGKOK) In a dramatic late-night incident on the streets of Phuket, two Nigerian nationals found themselves in custody following a high-speed pursuit that bore striking resemblance to scenes from Hollywood blockbusters.
The escapade began when social media users took to Facebook, sharing footage of a white Mazda performing dangerous stunts at the Koh Kaew Intersection. The vehicle was captured executing multiple circular manoeuvres, with tyres screeching against the tarmac, before darting towards Dara Samut Intersection around 10 pm.
A Thalang traffic officer’s initial pursuit proved futile as the vehicle thundered along the Phuket bypass road. The situation prompted Pol Col Chatree Chukaew, who heads the Muang police station, to mobilise additional units after receiving reports via police radio and local social media channels.
The chase reached its denouement in Soi Nana Chart 2, where the suspects abandoned their vehicle in a dead-end street. Despite attempting to evade capture by fleeing into dense undergrowth, both men—found shirtless and apparently inebriated—were apprehended following a physical confrontation that left both suspects and officers with minor injuries.
In a significant development, police identified one of the men as Anamere George, who was already wanted by authorities. The Nigerian national had been subject to an arrest warrant issued by Phuket Provincial Court in August 2023, facing charges of illegal entry and cocaine possession. The identity of his accomplice remains under investigation.
The incident, which began in Tambon Koh Kaew and concluded in Muang district, garnered substantial attention after being documented on the Hode Jung Phuket (Cruel Phuket) social media page. Both suspects, who appeared unable to communicate in English during their arrest, now face additional charges related to their dangerous driving escapade.
