14-11-2023 (JERUSALEM) The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the death of a 19-year-old female soldier who was held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. According to Reuters, the IDF issued a statement on Tuesday (November 14) confirming the death of Noa Marciano, the 19-year-old soldier. She had been imprisoned by Hamas in Gaza.
On Monday (November 13), Hamas released a video recorded on October 11, in which Marciano confirmed her identity and stated that she had been held captive in Gaza for four days. Subsequently, Hamas released photographs of her body, claiming that she was killed in an airstrike on Thursday (November 9).
However, the IDF has not commented on the cause of Marciano’s death. In their statement, they only mentioned that Marciano was a “kidnapped victim of a terrorist organization” and that she had served in the Border Police as a voluntary private.
According to reports, Hamas previously claimed that several hostages taken during their attack on Israel on October 7 had died or gone missing. However, the IDF’s statement on Tuesday seems to be the first official response to Hamas’ claims.
