26-10-2023 (SINGAPORE) Despite the illegality of personal mobility devices (PMDs) on the roads, young riders continue to flout the rules, raising concerns about safety and the well-being of both riders and other road users.
Recently, a vigilant Stomp contributor spotted a youth riding a PMD with a pillion passenger along Punggol Central, turning towards Punggol Place. The most alarming aspect of this sighting was that neither the rider nor the pillion passenger was wearing helmets.
The concerned contributor couldn’t help but emphasize the importance of valuing one’s life, saying, “Life is precious, kids. It’s not worth putting yourself and other road users at risk of accidents.”
In another incident, a separate Stomp contributor drew attention to a video shared on @tiagong_sg’s Instagram page, depicting a group of PMD users who were blatantly disregarding the law. The video showed them waiting at a traffic light along Sheares Avenue, in close proximity to the iconic Marina Bay Sands.
