12-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A 24-year-old Chinese Malaysian man has shared his success story of starting a business with a meager RM400 ($97) investment and spending an additional RM30,000 ($7,282) on Facebook advertisements. In just five months, his sales reached RM111,668 ($27,078), resulting in a net profit of 33% or approximately RM36,850 ($8,948).
Through his TikTok account @bryanlowwww, the young man revealed how he “started a business” from his bedroom and achieved a six-figure income within five months.
He explained that he would first seek inspiration from the Facebook Ads Library or TikTok Creative Center to determine what products to sell.
“When I see something that catches my attention, I would search for similar products on Alibaba’s website,” he said.
Next, he would test the waters by offering promotions like “buy more, save more” and providing free shipping and complimentary gifts.
“Choose a target audience to sell your products to, and your marketing message will be more accurate,” he advised.
The young man also used ChatGPT to brainstorm brand names and Canva to design logos, both of which are free resources.
He set up an e-commerce platform account to allow customers to place orders at any time. Additionally, he ran three video advertisements on Facebook and TikTok, consisting of two user-generated content (UGC) ads and one unique selling proposition (USP) ad. By testing which type of ad was more effective, he sought the formula for success.
When responding to inquiries from internet users, he revealed that he had invested RM30,000 ($7,282) in advertising.
Many netizens expressed gratitude for his insights and asked for tips on achieving similar success.
The young entrepreneur shared that he ensured a high perceived value of the products while keeping the costs low to maximize his profits.
