28-11-2023 (SEOUL) Since the debut of their pre-release video “Dream” on May 13, BABYMONSTER the burgeoning girl group, consisting of seven members from South Korea, Japan, and Thailand, has achieved remarkable success. The captivating clip has amassed an impressive 55 million views, solidifying the group’s presence on the global stage. With a current following of 3.47 million on the platform, the group is poised for further ascent.
Managed by the renowned South Korean talent agency YG Entertainment, the same powerhouse behind the global phenomenon BlackPink, this seven-member ensemble is creating waves. YG Entertainment, credited with launching the career of BlackPink’s Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban in 2016, is now propelling Thailand’s new K-pop sensations, Riracha “Chiquita” Phondechaphiphat and Pharita Boonpakdeethaveeyod, into the spotlight.
A notable feat for the group is the inclusion of Enami Asa and Kawai Ruka, marking their status as the first Japanese K-pop stars to join forces with YG Entertainment. This strategic move underscores the agency’s commitment to diversifying its talent pool and broadening its international reach.
Hailing from Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiquita, at the tender age of 14, officially became a part of the group on January 23 after an intensive training period of one year and nine months. The younger sister of renowned singer and actor Dechawat “Copper” Phondechaphiphat, Chiquita cites Lisa as her primary source of inspiration.
Joining the ranks on February 2 is Pharita, an 18-year-old Bangkok native who underwent rigorous training for two and a half years. Similar to her fellow Thai counterpart, Pharita looks up to Lisa as a guiding influence. The fusion of talent from different corners of Asia positions this girl group as a symbol of cultural diversity within the dynamic realm of K-pop. As their trajectory continues, eyes are set on their journey to international stardom under the guidance of YG Entertainment.
