2-1-2024 (SEOUL) On Sunday, December 31, 2023, YG Entertainment provided a sneak peek into the future plans of their highly anticipated new girl group, BabyMonster, in a video titled “BabyMonster Next Phase.”
The video, hosted by YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk, was packed with revelations, including details about BabyMonster’s upcoming single and updates on trainee Ahyeon, who faced health issues preventing her debut with the group.
In the video, Yang Hyun-suk disclosed that BabyMonster’s forthcoming single is titled “Stuck In The Middle” and is scheduled for release on February 1. Interestingly, the song will deviate from YG Entertainment’s typical hip-hop style, marking a departure into new musical territory.
Yang expressed his excitement about the single, describing it as a breath of fresh air and stating that listening to it felt akin to experiencing zero gravity in outer space.
The video also offered a glimpse into Yang’s relationship with the BabyMonster members. He referred to them not as junior artistes but as “his daughters,” emphasizing their youthfulness. Notably, Chiquita, the youngest member of BabyMonster, was born in 2009, making her just a year older than Yang’s own daughter.
Addressing the health concerns of trainee Ahyeon, Yang revealed that the 16-year-old had to pause her training for several months due to health reasons. However, Yang hinted at the possibility of Ahyeon rejoining BabyMonster in the future, stating, “It is uncertain when Ahyeon will join the group, so I will inform you publicly in due course.”
The video concluded with Yang Hyun-suk announcing that BabyMonster is set to release their first mini-album in April of this year, building anticipation for their debut in the K-pop scene.
