2023-05-17 (Kuala Lumpur ) A licensed female diver who went on a diving holiday to Tioman Island decided not to wear a full wetsuit for aesthetic reasons and ended up being stung by a highly toxic jellyfish.
The woman suffered from redness, swelling, and a burning sensation on her thighs, which caused her immense pain. She took to Facebook to share her experience, saying that this was the most unbearable and painful 36 hours of her life. She urged other divers to always wear a full wetsuit to avoid regretting such scars for a lifetime. The woman immediately sought medical attention at a local hospital but was unable to receive treatment as there were no doctors available.
She was given medication to take and apply to the wound and had to return to Kuala Lumpur for further treatment. The woman expressed her regret for not being more cautious and hoped her experience would serve as a warning to other divers.
