16-9-2024 (SINGAPORE) A brazen attempt to circumvent traffic queues at the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link border crossing has ignited a firestorm of criticism on social media. The incident, which occurred on 15 September at approximately 13:00 local time, involved a woman physically obstructing another vehicle to allow her own Singapore-registered car to cut ahead in the congested lanes.
Eyewitness footage, captured on a dashboard camera and subsequently shared on Facebook by user Elexio Kim, has since gone viral, amassing over 3,000 reactions and 9,000 shares. The video, which lacks audio, clearly shows the events unfolding on the Malaysian side of the border crossing.
In the clip, a woman clad in orange is seen disembarking from a Singapore-plated vehicle and positioning herself in front of the car equipped with the dash cam. Using her body as a makeshift roadblock, she appears to engage in a heated exchange with the driver, gesticulating emphatically whilst placing her hand on the bonnet of the car.
Despite the dash cam vehicle’s attempts to inch forward, the woman remains steadfast in her efforts to create space for her own car. Eventually, the silver Singapore-registered vehicle manages to squeeze into the queue, prompting the woman to return to her car, but not before making a rude gesture towards the dash cam driver.
