27-2-2025 (MANILA) A 36-year-old woman fell victim to an armed robbery whilst returning from a beauty pageant in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The incident, which occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on 25 February, resulted in the prompt apprehension of the perpetrator.
The 31-year-old assailant, who had only recently been released from prison in 2024 after serving time for drug-related offences since 2017, claimed financial desperation drove him to commit the robbery. As the victim prepared to board a tricycle along IBP Road, the man approached from behind and forcibly seized her mobile telephone and handbag.
“We’ve submitted the weapon to our forensic laboratory for ballistics testing to determine whether it might be linked to other criminal incidents,” explained Police Captain Glenn Gonzales, Deputy Station Commander at Batasan Police Station.
Law enforcement officials recovered the victim’s stolen possessions alongside a .38 calibre revolver containing four rounds of ammunition. The swift response by police followed the victim’s immediate call for assistance after the robbery.
The suspect now faces serious legal consequences under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act whilst remaining in police custody.
