24-10-2023 (SINGAPORE) The woman accused of subjecting a staff member at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to verbal abuse is now facing an additional charge, alleging that she moonlighted as a hostess under false pretenses while applying for a work permit, claiming to be a “clerk.”
Regarding the initial allegations of abuse, 29-year-old Han Feizi found herself in court on October 13, 2023, facing a total of six charges. These charges include using abusive language against a public service worker or public servant, harassment, assault, and public nuisance, according to reports.
However, on October 24, two more charges were added under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, further complicating her legal situation. The charge sheets suggest that Han falsely declared in her work permit application that she intended to work as a “clerk” for a company named KDL Elements, even though her true intentions were different.
Allegedly, she was moonlighting as a freelance hostess at various locations from August 1, 2023, to October 11, 2023, in clear violation of the terms of her work permit.
During her court appearance, Han, who did not have legal representation, presented herself as “fresh,” wearing large black-rimmed glasses. She communicated through a Mandarin interpreter and expressed her intention to plead guilty to all the charges.
Han, currently in remand, inquired about the possibility of posting bail. The judge informed her that she had already been offered bail but suggested that her proposed bailor might have been rejected by the bail center.
Han also requested permission to make an overseas call to her hometown. She disclosed that she was burdened with “credit card debts” and had a mortgage payment due. Furthermore, she noted that she had no friends or family in Singapore.
Han’s scheduled plea date is set for October 25, 2023, when she will address the charges against her.
