29-10-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A remarkable nocturnal encounter between motorists and a wild tiger has been documented in Malaysia’s southern state of Johor, highlighting the continued presence of the endangered big cats in the region’s forested areas.
The incident, which occurred along a darkened road in Mersing District, was captured on video by the vehicle’s occupants and has since garnered significant attention after being shared by local community page KHI (Kluang Hari Ini) on social media platforms.
In the footage, recorded from the safety of a stationary vehicle, the powerful predator can be clearly seen standing in roadside vegetation, its eyes reflecting the car’s headlights. The tiger, appearing to be a healthy adult specimen, maintained a brief standoff with the vehicle before turning away from the bright beams and proceeding to walk along the road’s edge.
The video captures the tense atmosphere inside the vehicle, with one occupant cautioning others to remain still until the large cat had moved a safe distance away
