26-6-2023 (HONG KONG) Hong Kong International Airport has experienced two consecutive incidents involving Cathay Pacific’s CX880 plane within a span of just one week. The most recent incident occurred when the plane, scheduled for a departure to Los Angeles at 12:05 am on 26th June, was delayed due to a suspected water tank leak.
Passengers had already boarded the CX880 flight when the crew discovered water leaking from multiple locations on the aircraft’s body, with some areas even exhibiting water spray resembling a fountain. The plane, identified by its registration number B-KQK, is believed to have suffered the leak due to a missing water tank cap, potentially resulting from human error.
One passenger on the flight shared that the delay persisted, and each passenger was only provided with a breakfast voucher worth HK$100. As of 9:42 am today, the passengers were still awaiting the rescheduled departure time for their flight.
This incident marks the second occurrence involving the CX880 plane within a week. On 24th June, an identical aircraft experienced a tail stand failure just before takeoff, leading to 11 passengers being transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Hong Kong International Airport authorities and Cathay Pacific are actively investigating these incidents to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and prevent any future occurrences.
