15-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Putri Ariani, a talented visually impaired singer from Indonesia, has recently captured the spotlight by earning a Golden Buzzer from renowned English television personality Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent. The 17-year-old singer captivated the hearts of the show’s judges with her performance of an original track titled “Loneliness,” and she was even asked by Cowell to perform a second song.
Putri’s audition clip on YouTube has garnered over 28.5 million views, drawing global attention. Among those who took notice were two YouTubers who remarked that her voice reminded them of Malaysia’s beloved songbird, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza.
Siti Nurhaliza, in response to the comments, took to Instagram to convey her admiration, saying, “Masya-Allah, little sister. Keep flying high and make your parents and country proud.”
In gratitude, Putri shared an Instagram Story to express her appreciation for the 44-year-old singer’s encouraging words. In her post, Putri also expressed her aspiration to perform alongside Siti in the future, writing, “Thank you so much. I really love your songs. I hope we can meet in person soon. I’d really like to duet with you.” Siti responded, “Insya-Allah, my dear.”
Putri has been visually impaired since the age of three but has been captivating audiences on stage since the age of seven. In 2014, she rose to fame by winning the second season of Indonesia’s Got Talent. She also made her mark as a finalist in the 2016 singing contest, The Voice Kids Indonesia.
According to Daily Mail, Putri has released nearly 30 songs on iTunes to date. Her most successful track, “Tak Mampu Lupa,” released last year, has garnered over 11.7 million streams on Spotify.
