The Yiling District was particularly affected, with one restaurant experiencing a dramatic incident involving its outdoor canopy. Strong winds lifted the canopy into the air, along with several individuals who were holding onto its support poles. They were carried several meters into the sky before plummeting back down to the ground.
Eyewitnesses at the restaurant described the storm as intense, with multiple people desperately trying to secure the canopy to prevent it from being blown away. However, a sudden and powerful gust of wind overpowered their efforts, causing the canopy to soar upwards, taking the unsuspecting individuals with it. After reaching a considerable height, the canopy and its human passengers came crashing back down.

The Yiling District Emergency Management Bureau has confirmed that all the injured individuals were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were minor, although the exact number of people affected in the incident has not been disclosed.
A patron of the restaurant recounted a peculiar story, mentioning that one of the individuals caught in the canopy’s ascent landed inside a private dining room. Amusingly, the person reportedly exclaimed, “I fell from the sky while eating!” Pictures circulated online depict a man in a grey shirt landing on the roof of the private dining room. He then managed to climb back through the hole in the roof and rejoined the other patrons to continue playing mahjong.
The patron further noted that the man in the grey shirt did not seem to have suffered any serious injuries. In fact, he engaged in conversation with other customers before leaving the restaurant on his own accord. In light of the unexpected incident, the restaurant owner made a generous announcement, stating that all customers would not be charged for their meals as a gesture of goodwill.
