6-9-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A Malaysian woman in Kuching, Sarawak, fell victim to a violent robbery in a shopping mall restroom, requiring plastic surgery to address her injuries.
The robbery and assault occurred at around 3 am on Saturday, September 2nd.
The victim, a 24-year-old woman, entered a shopping mall toilet in Kuching, where two 19-year-old suspects attacked her and stole her gold jewelry and mobile phone, as per reports from China Press. The assailants brutally beat the victim into unconsciousness.
Her boyfriend later discovered her badly injured in the restroom and immediately contacted the police at 3:53 am.
A message, purportedly from a friend of the victim, circulated on local WhatsApp groups, revealing that the victim sustained severe facial injuries, including a broken nose, requiring plastic surgery for treatment. It cautioned the public to exercise caution when dining in the area, emphasizing the importance of not going to the restroom or car park alone.
Police swiftly apprehended the two suspects within 24 hours near the scene of the crime. They confiscated a gold ring, two gold chains, and a luxury handbag from the perpetrators.
Despite having no prior criminal record and testing negative for drugs, the suspects now face serious charges. The police have initiated an investigation under Section 394 of the Penal Code, citing voluntary harm during a robbery.
If found guilty, the two suspects could face up to 20 years in jail, along with the possibility of fines or caning.
