26-2-2025 (BANGKOK) A local dog has unwittingly become the hero in a significant drug seizure in Thailand’s northeastern province of Buri Ram.
The remarkable incident unfolded when an ordinary village canine, after wresting a plastic package from several other dogs engaged in a tussle, dutifully delivered the mysterious parcel to its owner. Much to the owner’s astonishment, the innocuous-looking package contained a staggering 14,000 methamphetamine tablets.
Authorities were promptly notified after the bewildered resident discovered the illicit contents. The village headman, Jirawat Thanacharoenchote of Moo 9 in Tambon Sakae Prong, was first alerted to the situation, who then informed tambon chief Somchai Chaichana before police involvement was secured.
Upon professional examination, investigators found the contraband meticulously divided into seven smaller packages, each containing approximately 2,000 pills. The entire haul was subsequently transferred to Nong Song Hong police station for comprehensive analysis and further investigation.
Law enforcement officials theorise that a drug trafficker likely concealed the narcotics alongside a roadway within the village perimeter. The distinctive odour emanating from the package apparently attracted the attention of the local canine population, culminating in the scuffle that led to the black dog’s pivotal intervention.
