15-7-2023 (LONDON) Victoria Beckham, the renowned fashion designer, is reportedly set to reunite with the Spice Girls to commemorate the group’s 30th anniversary. While Beckham opted out of joining Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Melanie C, and Mel B for their 2019 tour, she is said to be bringing fresh ideas to the table for their upcoming celebrations in 2024.
The planned anniversary events for the quintet are expected to include a headline performance at Glastonbury and the release of a one-off documentary featuring never-before-seen footage. However, there are no plans for them to return to the recording studio.
According to a source from The Sun newspaper, Beckham has recently been actively contributing to the group’s discussions, marking a significant shift in their dynamic. The source revealed, “For the past few years, the Spice Girls have been operating as a four-piece, but now Victoria is participating and is excited to celebrate 30 years of girl power. It’s been challenging to get all of them in the same room due to their busy schedules. However, over the past six months, there has been more communication among the five of them than at any time since the 2012 Olympics.”
Turning 50 next year, Beckham sees the milestone anniversary as an opportunity not to be missed. The source clarified that there will be no new music, and Beckham is adamant about not performing live unless it is an incredibly exciting one-off event. The group has been in discussions to headline Glastonbury, which aligns with Beckham’s “cool” aesthetic, and her husband David Beckham and their four children are also enthusiastic about the prospect. Additionally, the Spice Girls are contemplating a documentary that would feature behind-the-scenes footage and present-day interviews, showcasing their journey over the past 30 years.
Mel C, who recently performed a solo set at Glastonbury, expressed the group’s desire to play at the festival as well. She shared, “All of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto, that is the truth. Like I said to the audience, doing a couple of Spice Girls songs, ‘A bit of a warm-up for next year?'”
Beckham last performed with the Spice Girls at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
