21-3-2024 (JAKARTA) Two ships caught fire at the Muara Baru Port in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. The vessels were ablaze while docked at the port.
According to Antara, the fire broke out on Wednesday (20/3) afternoon. Firefighters promptly responded to the scene to extinguish the flames.
“We received information about the fire at 4:00 PM local time and immediately deployed personnel to assist in extinguishing it,” said Abdul Wahid, Head of Operations Section (Kasiop) of the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat).
Security personnel who arrived at the Muara Baru Post reported the fire. Four fire trucks were dispatched to the location.
Personnel arrived at the scene around 4:04 PM local time. By 4:38 PM, the fire was successfully extinguished.
“Thankfully, by 4:38 PM, we had already carried out cooling operations,” he said.
In total, 15 fire trucks and 75 Gulkarmat personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire engulfing the ships docked at the location.
“The suspected cause of the fire is still unknown,” he added.
