30-5-2023 (BANGKOK) Officers from the metro and cyber police divisions successfully apprehended two 19-year-old twins, dubbed “the twins from hell” by various Thai media outlets, in connection with multiple sexual assault cases involving underage girls. The accused brothers, identified as Yutthana and Wanthana, also known as Parn and Pai, were allegedly involved in luring and molesting children across Ratchaburi province through Facebook.
The initial arrest took place at a construction site in Ratchaburi, where Yutthana, the first twin, denied any wrongdoing despite several girls coming forward to accuse him and his brother of rape. Following Yutthana’s arrest, he led the police to a residence in Suphan Buri province, where Wanthana, the second twin, was taken into custody.
Both brothers are now facing charges under two sections of the criminal code. The first charge relates to abducting minors under 15 years old for indecency, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to THB20,000 (S$780). The second charge pertains to sexually assaulting minors under 15, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of THB400,000 (S$15600)
According to the police, the twins’ modus operandi involved selecting victims through Facebook, particularly “junior high school girls” below the age of 15 who appeared innocent and were in close proximity. They would manipulate and deceive the victims before subjecting them to sexual assault. After the assaults, the twins would threaten the victims with further harm if they reported the incidents, effectively silencing them.
All the alleged victims were young female junior high school students in the Ratchaburi province area. Some of them were too terrified to attend school following the assaults, while others lived in fear, unable to leave their homes and even contemplating suicide.
The police investigation revealed that the first incident took place in February when a grade 7 student was lured by the “twins from hell” through Facebook. The brothers invited her out for shopping, but she ended up being raped in an abandoned house.
Cyber police identified four additional victims who came forward with similar accounts of sexual assault.
Reports also indicated that there were several other children who fell victim to the so-called “Devil Twins,” but they were too frightened to report the incidents to the authorities.
Arrest warrants for the twins were issued on May 22, after national police chief Damrongsak Kittiprapas declared them a threat to society.
Following their arrest, police discovered that both siblings had prior criminal records, including multiple property offenses and offenses of a sexual nature.
Wanthana, one of the twins, has denied all charges. During questioning, he admitted to completing his education up to Grade 9 and being involved in motorcycle thefts, having been apprehended three times as a minor for property offenses.
Furthermore, Wanthana was previously arrested in connection with a drug-related case involving the sale of 2,000 amphetamine pills. He was released in April 2015 and currently works at an auto repair shop.
Shockingly, Wanthana showed no remorse for his actions and revealed his preference for young girls, especially when they are menstruating. He also mentioned that relatives of the victims had contacted him after some incidents, criticizing him and demanding money. His response reportedly included offensive remarks such as, “You want money? Why? Does your daughter’s vagina smell like jasmine? I don’t have money. All I have is my penis and my life. Do you want them?”
